So, I'm excited and bummed at the same time.
We were in desperate need of a new bed. We have been sleeping on what currently feels like a mountain range. So this past weekend we headed out mattress hunting.
After lots of mattress hopping and Avery's "jumping on the beds" approval we settled on a Memory Foam in a KING!
I can't even wait for Thursday to get here...and a king is just amazing.
Jeff & I can have our own zip codes! And since many nights are spent sharing the prime real estate with a toddler that likes to sleep perpendicular to us while holding me in a headlock and a 100lb. four legged friend...I'm looking forward to some much needed rest!
That brings me to the bummed part...remember that little design journal project I've been working on (here)...well all that was for our queen bed which means the duvet will no longer work. So it looks like I'm going to have to rewind and go back to the drawing board here to find a new jumping off point. (or maybe the same thing in a king?!)
On the topic of beds...I'm kind of at a loss for what to do.
I ADORE an upholstered headboard but it would be nice to have an actual whole bed with a footboard and all. Upholstered beds are pricey. I'm open to a painted wood bed but haven't really seen anything that has struck a cord.
Any thoughts, ideas? What do you sleep on?
A mattress on the floor is sounding better and better... roll in, roll out...no dust bunnies underneath...
Of course I can have a post without any pictures so here are some things I've come across lately via pinterest!
Great mix of textures makes this neutral room appealing.
Teal blue wing back with nailhead trim. Um, yes please.
I like the subtle beach vibe of this room.
Loving this color scheme. I think you know how I feel about grey & blue... I'm drawn to them like bee's to honey and an accent color is also fun and easy to switch out with the seasons!
oh & p.s. any tips on getting babies to sleep through the night. And yes we've done the cry it out thing and she refuses to give up.
Signed a momma with a stiff neck.

hmm..we did the cry it out thing when Maura was 8 months and it worked like a charm. the thing I found most interesting was that babies, like us, are fine getting up in the middle of the night...its the learning how to put themselves back to sleep by themselves(like we do) that's the problem. what's your bedtime routine like? maura really likes her Fisher Price little aquarium thing that attaches to the crib and plays music/lights. when she wakes up during the night, she usually puts it on herself and it helps her stay calm, fall back to sleep. oh and we use a humidifier every night in her room as a sort of sound machine. that helps too. good luck, i can't imagine how hard it must be to still not get a full night's sleep for you!
I remember the day we went from a queen to a king, it was life changing :) Seriously! No tips of the baby sleeping front, we did cio for a while, then when she was old enough {2} she just started getting out of her bed and coming to ours :) I do love the snuggles, you may too once you have more room!
