what's crack-a-lackin.

 I'll tell you what's been crack-a-lackin...a whole lot of craziness. There are multiple projects underway around here so I'd thought I'd give a preview of whats to come.

Our old bedroom...which we lived in for about 2 years until we just recently finished the up stairs of our cape this spring is going to transform into a dining room.

 

I want it to be dramatic but light and airy so we are doing 5' high wainscoting. Have you ever used a chalk line snapping tool...I don't know it's proper name but it is super fun Just measure string across the wall and snap! A cloud of blue chalk dust and bam...you got yourself a guideline!  

 

The chalk line is for painting guidelines as well as where the top molding piece or chair rail will be. I'll be sure to keep you updated every step of the way on that transformation but for now my top priority os finishing up the floating shelves in Avery's room.

 

  

There are three 4' shelves that will go in a cubbie area. I just need to prim & paint them.

 

Then the fun part...putting all her stuff on them...books, decorative objects and photos! Do you know I used to be a visual merchandiser for both a high end furniture store and a clothing store. I had so much fun being creative and trying out new design ideas. I plan on posting about how to style a bookcase with a few options as well as some fun tips.

 

Finally we brought Avery glow bowling the other day for the first time. It was really fun to get out and do something as a family. She spent the first half clinging onto us for dear life...maybe it was the Justin Bieber music blaring or it could have been the flashing disco lights. She finally warmed up and even bowled her first ball!

My very first blog award...for being a stylish blogger...how exciting! I received it from my blogging friend Sarah over at Pewter & Sage!

I first "met" Sarah on a decorating and design forum and when she started her own blog I followed her on over there to discover not only did she have a great eye for decorating she also designed invitations. Fast forward a year or so and I contacted her to design my baby shower invites! At the time we didn't know if Miss Avery was going to be a he or she so we went neutral...and look how awesome they came out!

In accepting this award I need to share 7 things about myself...so here goes it!
(in a very random order!)

one.

In high school my entire 11th grade Social Studies class including the teacher (it was her idea!) hide on me! I came back from the bathroom and the whole class was gone. You see my high school had no walls... the classrooms were divided by rolling partitions and chalkboards...sounds weird but it was actually pretty cool. Anyways I was wondering around the halls for a good ten minutes before I finally heard giggling and there they all were hiding out on me! It was pretty funny.

two.
I was voted class clown in high school. I think I'm pretty funny and I'm known to sometimes say silly things without thinking about what I'm saying first...which my friends refer to as "Courtney Stories"

three.
I LOVE juice boxes! Yes I'm 29 by hey why not! Right now I'm loving "Honest Kids; Berry Berry Good Lemonade"

four.
I have to give my baby medicine 3 times a day every day. Been doing it pretty much since she was born. She has a heart condition called "supra ventricular tachycardia" say that three times fast! In a nut shell she has an accessory pathway in her heart (which everyone has but it is supposed to go away by birth) that sometimes causes the electricity in her heart to misfire resulting in a very high heart rate. It is not life threatening and she has a 30-40% chance of growing out of it by age 1. She has a great Cardiologist who is very pleased with how she is doing and otherwise she is a very healthy happy baby! Who I must add has already had 2 helicopter rides in her little 10 month life and if I didn't dye my hair blonde I'm sure she's already given me a few gray hairs!

five.
My favorite candy in the whole wide world is Reese's Peanut Butter Cups..yumm!!! Although around Easter it's a close tie with Cadbury mini eggs.

six.
I'm embarrassed to say that the only printed photos I have of Avery are ones my mom has given to me. Yes I am a photographer and yes I have taken hundreds of pictures of the little lady and edited them and have them all tucked away in a handy file appropriately named "Avery" but I have yet to actually print one out and hang it up.
Yes I should be ashamed of myself...but there just is not time...maybe when she goes to college.

seven.
Jeff & I have been dating since high school! We started dating in 11th grade and have been together ever since. That is...hold on I need to count...going on 12 years, yikes!
